Happy New Year!

All best wishes for a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous 2010 for all of us.

Icehouse Pottery Show - Finished for another few months at least!

We closed the show at 5PM tonight - another successful year; it's always so nice to leave with empty boxes rather than the heavy boxes we lugged in. Looks like we have two new members and a possible 3 more. They found out about us through various sources - friends, Internet, publications, and newsletters. That, on top of the members culling their stock and making room for their next best idea ever.... it's been a great year and it's all looking up.

Icehouse Pottery Show - Still open, Sunday 12/06/09

Day One - Icehouse Pottery Show

Mother Nature chose today to invite Old Man Winter into our house. While our visitors were steady, we'd hoped for more and look forward to tomorrow, once this weather turns into nothing. The up side is that several prospective members visited and checked us out; no one felt rushed and it was a lotof fun talking to them. There are some really interesting people thrilled to find a studio with openings in their own neighbourhood. The coming year looks fine indeed!

Every Home Needs a Gnome (and these gnomes need homes!)

These gnomes will be available for Christmas gifts (children, teachers, office grab bag, administrative assistant? The gnomes do not discriminate and will be a happy and pleasant companion - no mischief - they promised - seriously.) Give a smile and a giggle that lasts all year!

Also - if you are a potter looking for a studio - we're accepting applications. Come meet us, see the studio and know that even a potter needs a home!

Latest Faces - Stories to Come

Beanie Boy was adopted at Mountainside in April 2010 - I wasn't at the show yet when he left for his new home and if you are his new family, I'd love to hear from you; I'm at sunottin@gmail,com. Thanks! I know you and Beanie Boy will be very happy and I'm glad he finally spoke to someone. Obviously he was waiting for just the right person to come along before he revealed himself.

Baby Rattle

Adopted by Magda at the Hermitage!
Baby isn't scared anymore!

Professor Reginald

Professor Reginald will expound:
On the value of galaxies that surround
And beauties that always abound.
Alas, he is trapped here on the ground.
The good professor is 6 inches tall and is 7 inches tall with his bald pate in place.

Adopted by Judy at the Mountainside Show (Potters' Guild of NJ)

Madame Mary Mystique

Madame Mary Mystique’s own future
Does hide from her inner eye picture.
She can help others to move forward,
But wonders what she’s heading toward.

Madame Mary is 6 inches tall until she wears her turban and then she's 8inches!

Scatter Brains

This face jug is a rattle. So far, although I can hear his marbles, he's not using them to talk to me.

He's about 4 inches tall and solid round!

Adopted by Donna!

Maxamillian

Maxamillian sells old used cars.
In his spare time he loves cigar bars.
That he is cliché does not matter.
But his polyester shirt is sadder.

My pal Max is 5.25" to the top of his head and 6" to the top of his handle. He's the first to insist on a "SEE gar" rather than a "Butt" for his smoke break. I'm sure it's a cheap cigar at that.

Adopted by Michele at the Mountainside Show (Potters' Guild of NJ)

You Did WHAT?

I'm not so sure just what I did, but this fella hasn't stopped being shocked since the day he emerged from the kiln. I can't wait for him to share a little of that surprise.

He's 4.25" tall and 5" to the top of his handle.

Trixie

Trixie is very precocious
And her posture is atrocious.
Now her heavy favourite big books
Straighten her back and improve her looks.

Trixie is 6" to the top of her head and her books bring her up to 9" straight and tall wonderful posture!

Fun story about Trixie - Mum says that Trixie recalled for her grade three classes --- all the children were set to walking around their classroom daily with their texts on their heads to make sure they stood up straight. Trixie is pleased to know she's taking after such a wonderful woman!

And guess what else! Dad's favourite dog's name was Trixie - Trixie is running two for two - not bad.

And I know now why she's always smiling - Trixie has been adopted by Mum and Dad!

Bruce

No rest – no excuse – I must attend.
Important yes, but WHEN will it end?
Says Bruce, I’ve work at my desk, you see
To complete before I’m too sleepy!

Bruce is 5.25 inches until his comb over is attached the he's 6.75 inches tall.

Jason

Jason is a pirate on the sea;
Mostly in the crow’s nest he will be.
He has to fight scurvy all the time,
And he does that by sucking on a lime.

Jason is 5.75 inches tall (6" including his handle.)

The Smoking Club Outside the Mischief Factory

The boys pose for a group photo while on break outside of the Mischief Factory. They delight in torment!

Joseph

His horns may be small,
But his delight abounds:
When Joseph undertakes mischief,
He astounds!

Joseph is 4.25 inches to the top of his head and 5 inches to the top of his tail loop.

Adopted by John!

Jack

It’s high time for Jack to quit smoking.
The cost is too high, he’s not joking.
So he sucks on peppermint candy:
Fits in pockets and cheap – how handy!

Snap

It was just a little squabble,
Over a shiny little bauble,
And though Snap broke a horn when thus lured,
The wee bauble was not secured.

Snap is 4.5 inches to the top of his head and 5.5 inches to the top of his tail loop.

Adopted by Hannah's Daddy, Michael

Notch

Outside the Mischief Factory,
Notch enjoys a smoke.
He’ll do most anything…
For a nasty little joke.

Notch is 4.5 inches to the top of his head and 5.75 inches to the loop of his tail.

Adopted by John!

Curly

His wit as just as sharp as his teeth.
There is no mischief Curly’s beneath.

Curly is 4.75 inches to the top of his head and 5.5 inches to the top of his tail loop.

Adopted by Hannah's Daddy, Michael!

Morton

When the boys lack mischief they tease Mort.
And how could they not, with his wart?

Morton is 5.5 inches to the top of his head, 6.5 inches to the top of his tail loop.

Adopted by Hannah's Daddy, Michael!

Joe, the Chef

Joe, a chef at Buffet Chinese,
Knows not Szechwan from Cantonese.
But it’s no matter, no not a tick,
These customers can’t use a chop stick.

The Boss

Nothing gets by the eagle-eyed Boss;
Anything missing, he knows his loss.
But he’s smart and fair so he’s respected;
Any words against him are rejected.

The boss is 4.5 inches tall.

He was adopted by Darlene!
